Activity Board

So....THIS post was huge for this little blog.  As of today, it has gotten almost 9,000 hits.  It still gets daily hits two years later and from what I can see has been pinned close to a thousand times....absolutely crazy.

Charlie didn't play with it all that often, I thought it was a waste of time, but good news is that as he gets older, the more and more he plays with it...thank goodness.  Here is an update and side by side that makes me what to CRY

Indigo Girls

My sister and I have listened to the Indigo Girls since the late 80's.  Say what you will about them, there is NO better music to sing to on a road trip.  The last time I saw them I was a junior in high school!  I visited my sister at Iowa State and we went together.  Can you BELIEVE that I still have the ticket?  Me, the girl who throws absolutely everything away.
Us trying to take a picture together....
Much better when the waiter did it

IG Filter!  We went out for Mojitos and Mexican before the show.  The food was amazing and the mojitos about knocked us on our ass- watch out for those at El Patron!

They are doing a symphony tour, it was sold out except the choral section behind them, which was fine by me!  It's the smaller of the two halls at our new Kauffman Center, which is amazing by the way, so not a bad seat in the house.

No pictures or video allowed, no drinks, no this, no that.  Not the way I'm used to seeing concerts.  I can't remember the last time I saw a show where you could sit on the toilet seat with no fear....Even the Indigo Girls were making fun of the stuffiness.  But you're playing with the symphony, I guess we have to follow their rules.
shhhh....last song I snuck in a couple pictures.  It was a really reserved crowd but everyone got up and sang and danced for the last song, it was AWESOME.

They are so humble, so gracious, SO amazing.  I definitely don't want to wait another 20 years before seeing them again.  (oh, and see that girl in the front pointing?  She was like that the whole show,  Melinda and I were dying.  She was so into them, her dream must have come true being in the front row....)

Well, this is a little late....

Well, big news that got no coverage whatsoever, Charlie started school.  It's a head start program that is in the elementary that he'll go to.  It's 3 blocks from our house, and after hauling Charlie all over this town for 3 plus years for childcare, it's amazing to be able to drop him off right next door.   He loves school, I love him being there.  He has all these friends and they do amazing work with him, he's learning so much!  His best friend is Noah, we hear a lot about Mr. Noah.  Looking forward to a play date sometime, Noah's mom seems totally normal, which is harder to find than you would think.  They had a Valentines party and I got to totally geek out and make the most adorable valentines ever.  And not to brag, but he brought home all his valentines and Charlie's were the cutest.  I found the free printable somewhere on pinterest and attached them to some scrapbook paper with a tootsie taped to the back.  But, we also had this the other day (this is my fb post the day after)Tues AM- Teacher: 'we just think Charlie is so well behaved and polite, thank you for all you do with him'
Tues afternoon- basking in my parenting prowess
Tues PM pickup- Teacher: 'we've had a problem with him spitting today'
AAAAAnd it's over.... As my friend Sarah commented

'Basking ruins EVERYTHING! Grrrrrr!!!' - I died! haha. Disclaimer, it was more of a thbppppp, not actual spitting, but seriously?

School was closed for conferences on the actual day of Valentines day and he got to stay the day with Grandma and Grandpa.  Craft time with Grandma!!  How hilariously adorable does he look in his crown?? Nice work Grandma

He looked so cute I had to take his picture coming home from school
'Hold still Charlie' - he's so used to that, he just smiles and stands still like a good boy

And this is WAY delayed, he was measured 12/30/13, but he is growing like a weed!  All his pants turned into capris!  Thank goodness for awesome cousins, he has a plethora of hand me down pants I just pulled out.
And we finally entered the 21st century, got rid of our 900# analog TV and got a flat screen!  It's lovely, but I can't stop cringing over the $$ we spent.  I'm just too cheap to drop money like that on electronics- can't we buy shoes and good wine with that instead??

My Weird Boy Genius

Checked on him at nap time and thought he had gotten out of bed until....

I saw it...

Completely buried under blankets, head and all.  To ward off heat stroke or suffocation, I opened a breathing hole as carefully as I could as to not wake him, he just kept sleeping thank goodness, but it was 987 degrees under there...ugh
And look who is finally at the puzzle age!  I was pretty puzzle obsessed when I was a kid, kept me very busy with the same puzzles over and over.  And he's so good!  He high fives me every time he gets two to fit together.  No, like every.time.  But he's awesome at it- my boy genius.....

Winteryest Winter Ever

Update- the hubs had back surgery.  He's healing well.  Hobbling around like an old man, but hopefully back in action by spring (you don't want me to plant the garden- dead.plants.everywhere)

We got about 14" of snow over two days, so that was crazy.  With Matt laid up, I was on shoveling duty.  Stayed on it all day shoveling little bits at a time so I didn't have to do it all at once.  It was awesome until the plow finally came.  Digging out the mound at the end of the driveway just about gave me a heart attack.  Charlie loved it, he could have stayed out there ALL day

Fletcher liked it too- he was freaking adorable in the snow
Cabin fever from being stuck inside- we made a marble run out of label cores from my work and empty paint can samples, again, from my work.  My job is awesome like that sometimes.  Aren't Charlie's little legs adorable in the long picture?  I could just eat him.
That catches up a bit....at least for now
