Activity Board

Matt made Charlie a magnet board- kinda going for something between this and this

Matt glued a sheet of galvanized sheet metal he picked up at home depot in the HVAC aisle (about $9) and glued it down to a piece of plywood

framed it in

I took puzzles that Charlie never plays with and made magnets out of them

These magnets are awesome and very strong, but they are dirty and when we played with them on the fridge, they left black marks.  And my kid put them in him mouth and got black stuff on his face (awesome).  I would have soaked them.  Now that some time as passed, they don't make such a mess.  Got these from Hobby Lobby

This magnetic strip doesn't work very well.  The magnet is weak and it peels off very easily, but some of the puzzle pieces work better with the strips

I found my biggest books

and once the magnet was on, pressed them under the books to get a good seal on the sticker (still didn't stick very well)

Matt installing

We bought different things at Home Depot for him to play with.  This part was kind of fun, walking the aisles and looking at every day things as play toys.  You have to be careful because some of these things can get kind of expensive and it can add up quickly.  Plus, you have to watch for warnings on the packages that extended exposure can cause birth defects??? No joke, we found that sticker on one of things we were looking at.

There is room for more over time and some out of his reach that he can grow into.

It's a hit!

I LOVE this... what fun for Charlie and so creative. You can't buy something like that.
