First T-Ball Practice

We started T-Ball on Tuesday.  Well, I have to call it baseball because try as I might, he can't seem to distinguish between T-Bones and T-Ball.  It's with the same city's parks and rec that did the football, it's a great organization.  They are super organized for so many little kids.  They are all 4-5 years old, so at any given time, 10-15% of them are crying.  This is WAY bigger than football.  That had about 50 kids, this had to be pushing 100 kids = TOTAL CHAOS
Charlie is in the middle there catching a grounder.  I have to say, I'll take football any day, cooler weather and was just a lot more laid back.  Parents are freaking nuts.  I like that there were a lot of girls though, Even though it was open to them, there was not a single girl in football.  If I had a 4 year old little girl, I would totally put her in football, all they did was run around, what kid doesn't like that?  Anyway, I digress....

And the dichotomy begins, the gratefulness you feel towards others for coaching when you know you can't (aka, I don't wanna) and watching them teach your kid how to incorrectly bat.  Keep your mouth shut mom....keep it shut...dad will work with him and fix it in the backyard.

In my/her defense.  I did keep my mouth shut and that coach is the nicest lady ever

Such a Charlie picture

His favorite station, the base running station

Making friends (collective awwwww) Ok, do you see that chaos in the right corner?  That's 100 kids trying to get a juice box and fruit snacks at the same time.

Happy First Day of Summer/Picture Catch-Up

New bike Matt bought me as a Mother's Day gift.  Finally got it put together- it's SO pretty!

I call this the Billy Madison

And this one the Calvin and Hobbes- BFs

Dad strapping on a headlamp for extra night-time biking in the yard

Dad's little 'helper'
He has to wear such scrubs to school because they destroy everything, so I really get out of hand when it comes to dressing Charlie for church.  He's so fun to make cute and still young enough to not care what he wears.

Could you just die?? Ugh, so freaking cute

Most days he's like this....pick your battles

Sleeping under the vent because his room is too warm
And I chopped all his beautiful blonde locks off for summer. I would pick him up from school and his whole head would be sopping wet with sweat.  I want to cry, it's too short, but I know he's more comfortable and he LOVES it, so that's all that matters right? LET IT GO MOM. But, is that a little Ethan or what??  This is also the first time I've ever seen my brother in him.  It's weird how it works that way, isn't it?

Deanna Rose

We went out to Deanna Rose Farmstead for a birthday party last weekend.  It probably used to be in the middle of nowhere, but it now smack dab in the middle of southern Johnson County Kansas (which for those not from this area, is pretty much the bastions of hell- strip mall, over-sized SUV, spray-tanned HELL) But there is this little oasis in Deanna Rose- it's amazing!  It's like a zoo, but all farm stuff.  I know I'm a city girl, but I spent a lot of time on farms growing up, so it's funny to me to see a fake corn crib exhibit like it's an oddity.
Hay ride

Okay, sorry for the slew of baby goat feeding pictures, but it was TOO cute!

You can always tell which one was the instagram one

Did the pony rides, I thought for sure he'd get scared, he couldn't jump on one of those pony's fast enough!

Spoiled, spoiled, spoiled....
So we went on a hay ride, bottle-fed baby goats, rode a pony, fed chickens and pigs, rode an awesome silo slide 68 times, ate cake, had our first ice cream cone, and what is his favorite??  These little tractor pedal bikes which were so hard to pedal, even harder to steer and really just quite ridiculous.  The whole track was kids who couldn't get them to go, but Charlie didn't care!  And when we left crying THIS is what he cried about 'I wanna ride the wittle tractors again!'  Although, when I was a really little girl, there was another little girl I would play with when I went to my Grandma King's house after she moved in town in Brooklyn, Iowa.  I don't remember anything about her, but I remember her having this awesome tractor pedal car, so maybe there is just something with these that are cool when you are little, no matter how crappy they are to pedal and steer....

See? Ridiculous

T Bones- June 2nd

Innocently on our way out to the T Bones game....
When we get sideswiped by a semi truck in a narrow lanes through construction.  And he had no idea he did it so when we pulled over, he didn't, which made it a hit and run

Took out our side mirror and our front fender.  Matt drove like a bat out of hell and caught up with him so we got all his info.  I called the company and they were great about it and took care of everything including a rental. We just kind of said 'what now?' 'I guess we go to the game!'
Charlie throwing a fit because I wouldn't let him try my margarita (it does come in a pretty blue kid-like glass, I blame the concession-ier)

Quickly over it
