March - into lockdown

On March 12th, 2020, the City of Independence, plus all surrounding cities and counties declared a state of emergency and we went into lockdown.  In the beginning it was hard as we were used to getting out and bouncing around but we had to stay away from everyone.  I went a little over the top the first few weeks. I learned to pace myself....

Painter's tape car track with tunnels

Obstacle course

Forts!

Snacks!

Go Noodle!

Board Games!

Screen time, lots of screen time

???

Bike Rides!

Baking!

More Board Games!

The QUIKTRIP FOUNTAIN SHUT DOWN. This was a travesty. No Iced Tea.

Matt got an old desk from work, the kitchen cart was moved into the living room (where all crockpots and kitchen aid mixers are stored, right?) and this was my new home to work.  School was canceled, daycare was shut down, I had to work from home with both kids home.

Which most of the time looked like this.....

A few weeks after the school closed, the teachers did a drive by parade. It was the highlight of our week.

Finding a secluded state park to get the HELL out of the house. Cave Spring Park in Raytown

And this is what happy hours with my girls now look like....

People all over the country made rainbow windows.  We got in on it.  What the hell else are we going to do????

I googled anywhere I thought would be isolated.  Went to a random civil war park in St. Joe. I just wanted to get in the car and go.  This is Fort Smith Historical Park.  It was technically closed, we totally just broke in. The ultimate social distancing.

Then drove all the way over to Wallace State Park.  It was pretty busy, we just did everything we could to stay away from people.

Took country roads and came across this goof ball

Told the kids, get some books, we're going to be gone for a while.
