Am I a mean mom?

Wait until the end- he liked it I promise! I about fell over this was so funny

What is this monstrosity!?!

I love how every time Charlie sneezes, it makes the blog but we bought a truck and I'm just now posting it.  Matt finally got his truck.  The thing is ginormous but is what we have needed.  The five of us can road trip in it, and Matt has a truck to build crates for my work and make a little extra money.

Matt worked on the Saab for a couple of days and I had to drive this thing.  You should see the looks I get in this truck.  I can't park it at all and I feel like I'm driving a school bus- it's SO LOUD.

Matt's truck.....not mine

Uh-Oh... Charlie figured out how to get out of eating his chickpeas

Curtain Update

The campground print was the overwhelming winner in the curtain vote.  I went to order it and it was OUT OF STOCK!  Estimated restock October 31st!  Booooo

I liked the birdcage fabric also, but I think my heart was set on the camping print.  Plus, Matt wan't a huge fan of the birdcages.  'Looks like something from 101 dalmations' Is that a bad thing?

Well, I came across this quote on Janette Drost's Blog “Decide what you want, and then wait until you find it. Don’t settle for something you will want to replace in a year.”

Sigh, well I think I will wait and sew another day.

Thank you all for you invaluable input- that was fun!

Sunday Adventures

We needed to get out of the house.  We packed up Charlie. I packed a couple of different scenario needs and hit the road

We went down to the marina to feed the carp (and ducks and geese)

Charlie kept eating the bread we gave him to throw

The carp are insane down there and the ducks will walk on top of them to get food

Charlie thought it was pretty cool

There were a couple coy fish- here is a white one, there was also a huge orange one that was awesome.  I couldn't get it to stop and smile for the camera

After that we headed to the park

For a kid that likes nothing better than when his dad body slams him and twirls him above his head, Charlie is kind of a wimp on the swings.

He liked it a bit better when dad did it with him

Time to vote - kitchen curtains. Help me turn my ugly kitchen into a less ugly kitchen

This is a picture from the weekend I moved into the house so it's a little old, but I don't have any other pictures handy of the curtains.  These curtains were hung by our renters.  I have detested them from day one.  Yet almost two years later, they still hang in my kitchen.  I pretty much hate this kitchen in general.  The work it needs is pretty overwhelming, so I just ignore it.  I'm looking for low cost, easy ways to make it just a little bit prettier.  There is no way to make it more functional, so I have to work with what I have.  (I mean, there is ONE outlet along the entire counter space- what the hell)  Among the many ridiculous aspects to this kitchen, it is also home to the world's ugliest ceiling fan.   I almost don't want to take it down it's so hilarious.  I'll post about that later.  So, we are going to Matt's sister's for Labor day and she has graciously offered to help me make some curtains.  I need to get these ordered, so help me pick.

#1 My kitchen (along with most others I'm finding) has bits of red accented.  Now, I don't want to do too much red.  I love the combination of blue/teal and red, but that's kind of what I did in Charlie's nursery, so I may need to rethink.  I'm open to other coordinating colors, but they have to go with red. Source

#2 Here are the 2 colors together.  Who doesn't love polka dots?  Well this girl does. Source

#3 The 2 color combination again.  I'm just sorta eh on this one Source

#4 I like this one, but I also don't want to look like a cafe Source

#5 This gives me lots of options to go with red and is bright and cute  Source

#6 This is my first choice right now.  Until I can do what I want in my house and have the money to do it, I just kinda want to go fun or go home.  I love this and think it would be uber cute.  And green and red- cute? Source

#7 Here is more green- this is a little more subtle Source

#8 Well, just as I say go fun or go home, there is this one.  More serious, more pretty than fun but I think would look nice and all adulty and stuff . Source

#9 Then there is this one where I could go a bit more nautical.  I'm not an outright fan of nautical.  Let's just put it this way- nautical can be done REALLY bad-- but if done right, I dig it.  Source

Please vote, even if you vote anonymous. I need help! You can also email me at molliedivine at gmail dot com

Thank you!

Magnets

The company I work for sells machines that label bottles.  We sold a machine to a micro brewery in Colorado and I had all these bottle caps from the samples so I made them into magnets- strong, practical magnets.  I liked their logo.  Do you know what a Tommy Knocker is?  I thought we could collect cool bottle caps and make magnets- cool bottle caps ones, not Bud Light bottle caps

I have a thing with magnets.  Every where we go we have to get a pretty Christmas ornament and an ugly magnet.  After a few we refined it to an ugly, good magnet.  Nothing more annoying than a magnet that holds one sheet of thin paper only.  I know they are tacky, but it's not like I have a Williams Sonoma kitchen here and they make me smile.

This one if from the trip Natalie and I took to the Missouri home of Laura Ingalls Wilder.  Great trip.

This one is my favorite- it's an old Avon pin that someone made into a (really strong- like hold an entire calender strong) magnet.  I admired it and teased about it until Annette finally gave in and gave it to me.  Love it, love it, love it.

Geesh- slow blog day when I'm blogging about my magnets eh?
