Royals Game

A friend from work gave us 4th row Diamond Club tickets to the Royals game.  As awesome as that is, it was the night before leaving to Minnesota for five days, I just had too much to do.  So Matt took Ethan- what a great night for father and son and amazing tickets!

Oh Boy.....here we go!

How do you think this will look next to my Jayhawk??  She already stealth snuck one on my car in the middle of the night.  I took that one off- told her I'll put all the MU stuff on my car when she gets her degree

One Ticket to Ride the Potty Train!

If your son is obsessed with trains, I highly recommend this book.  He walks around the house shouting 'One ticket to ride the potty train! Chugga Chugga POO POO!!'
The boy who had NO interest in it at all has turned a corner.  I've rolled my eyes countless times over parents making such a big deal about potty training.  But parents, now I GET it.  After buying and changing THOUSANDS of diapers, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I Love Saturdays

I have no pictures, but my mother-in-law and I took B on a HUGE shopping spree to get her ready for the fall.  The girl is going to MU- my college's biggest rival (kinda... they pooped out and moved to the SEC, so it's not as fun anymore)  We are very excited for her.  My freshman year at KU was one of the greatest times ever, I just hope she has a great experience.

Charlie and I got home and went straight to sleep, both of us.  I took about a 3 hour nap, Charlie even longer.  This is how he was sleeping, all confined in half his crib.  It was the best nap EVER.  I woke up feeling a little groggy, but so rested.  I've been waking up at 5:15 am most days, and it's catching up with me...

We are trying so hard to ball train Fletcher.  He's starting to get it!  I have always wanted a dog that liked to fetch balls

The neighbors are building a deck and the saw noise was getting to Charlie, so dad and him put on earmuffs?  ear goggles?  What are these called?  I'm blanking right now.

Dad imitating Charlie's strut/waddle

It was one of those great summer evenings.  Not too hot, but hot enough to swim in the pool.  We grilled out burgers, portabellas and ate fruit and drank lemonade (mom and dad may have had a nip of vodka in their lemonade- YUM) Then we played our favorite game...who can lay baseballs into the garden
As always, Matt got the most.  We played a game where E got $1 for every ball he got in, but he lost $.25 every time Matt got one in....I didn't get any in (surprise, surprise)

Picking up balls- Charlie's favorite part

You can see Matt about to lift Charlie over the fence to retrieve balls from the neighbors- thank goodness we have cool neighbors.

Givin' dad a smooch

Ikea run- staking out our trip

Headed home to Minnesota and staking out our purchases
This adorable coffee table to replace the sad one below...it was s great coffee table, and a steal at $70 on clearance at Target.  But it is DONE and there is no way I'm refinishing that thing- could you imagine sanding all those little crevices?

IKEA PS 2012 $49.99

Not my favorite, but raw wood, so we can paint or stain.  This is a big maybe, we need to see in person- for the kitchen table   Ivar $25.00 each

Charlie has one of these that was Ethan's, he loves it.  But it's starting to get pretty worn out, and this is only $14.99 Lekplats Play Mat

And I HAVE to have this Raskog $49.99
Time to get away from our uggo college plywood bookshelf.  Yes, I realize Ikea isn't solid wood, but at least there are doors to keep the (very sentimental and sometimes expensive) things safe.  Borgsjo $135.00

I told Matt I'd keep the TV room traditional and keep all the ridiculously colorful items regulated to kids and kitchen, oh, but isn't this SO much cuter than the boring Borgsjo?  Well, either way, it's better than what we currently have.  Fabrikor $179.00
Can you believe at age 35, in a house I've lived in for almost 4 years, I still use one of these?  Just wasn't a priority....babies, babies, babies....

Katie's Wreath (For Silent Auction)

I promise, last wreath for July.  So, the ornament in the middle- yea or nae?  Seems to be men like it, women do not, but it's fully and very easily removable, just untie the bow in the back and slip it off.

Night at the K

Matt's work gave him 4 Diamond Club tickets to the Royals game Friday night.  Diamond Club is the spot behind home plate with waitresses and all that fanciness.  It was a gorgeous night to sit at the game and Kauffman stadium was fuller than I had ever seen it- so it was super loud and fun

Had to take a picture of these guys...

We invited our friends the Wilhelms- they are fantastic company.  Cari and I were best friends when we were like, 3 and 4 years old, but she moved away.  She lived in the house behind us in Plymouth, Minnesota.  She found me on Facebook and get this...we live TEN minutes away from each other...in Kansas City!  I even looked back at my baby book and my mom wrote "best friend Cari Cairns- moved to Kansas City' It's been great getting to know eachbother as adults- she's freaking hilarious
This is the only picture I have of us two as kids- I think my mom would have LOVED that we got back in touch

The Many Adventures of Sweet Potato

Okay, so I'll address the question I KNOW I will get 'So....yeah, the sweet potato thing, I don't get it.  It's FUNNY, that's what
I didn't even make it up- it's been done many times- most recently that I have seen with a cardboard cut out of Professor Snape

Fourth of July

Absolutely loving our new little pool, Charlie would stay in there all day if we let him

I kinda miss living in Minnesota where fireworks are illegal, people get stupid on the fourth.  But the upside is, we just put a blanket on the curb and watched all the fireworks up and down our street, behind us, next to us, freaking everywhere.  Downside, our new dog  can NOT handle fireworks.  We had to put him in the basement bedroom with a fan, the washing machine running and we gave him 12 towels to hide under in his kennel and the poor thing still had a rough night.

This is basically an 8 second audio-only video of Charlie's adorable voice And here is a 25 second video of how darn cute our new dog is
