Going home to Minnesota!

Today is my Friday- I'm driving to my sister's in Des Moines tonight and then we are off to Minnesota in the morning. Going to Nordstroms at Mall of America (biggest fab-o shoe collection this side of NY) and to see if we can't find my sister her matron of honor a dress. 7 weeks out and she still doesn't have a dress. The fall stuff is all coming out now, so I'm sure we'll find something and hopefully quickly. Mall of America is pretty exausting. I can't spend an extended amount of time there.

We're both going home man and child free. It doesn't happen much, it's so nice sometimes to hang with my parents with just us two. I'm so excited to see my parents, I haven't seen them since Christmas! Two showers and a bachelorette on Saturday- it's going to be crazy. I'm going to have to buy some red bull or some crack or something.

Well, my dress is tan. I thought it would be off white/cream, but it is full out tan. This is fine with me. It's a non-issue. No one expects me in white. But this pretty much rules out a veil, I'll never be able to match it no matter how many times I dunk it in tea. So, I was planning on wearing my hair half up and fashion a brooch into a hair clip. Which one would look the best?

I have a bid on ebay to see this one, it's only like $3 with shipping (about 3" across- much bigger than this pic, I just have no idea how re-size pics)

October- fall themed wedding

2 months!

We get married 2 months from today! I have been planning this wedding for a year and am so ready to be done with wedding planning. It has, at times, been a nightmare. It was another lovely nightmare this weekend. We got the dress this weekend, and although the dress is beautiful.....Bridal Extraordinaire was snotty- again. I realize that in the wedding world, I am not the big fish, but seriously, do you have to be so self-righteous? That and me, the non-crier, started balling. I have seriously never had a dress that fit me less well. My sister made me feel better, but the sales lady was like dead on the inside. First, they made a point to make me make an appointment so they could steam my dress- it looked like it had been sitting in a plastic bag in the heat for 2 days. Second, the dress is supposed to be tea-length. I'm short, so they will always be longer on me, but this dress is FLOOR LENGTH- no problem, easy to make things shorter, but the also, the waist is so long, the bust comes up to my clavicle. We are literally going to have to cut this dress in half and take out like 6 inches from the middle. My $250 dress is now going to be a $400 dress. I guarantee this is going to be at least $150 in alterations- I budgeted about $75. Ugh, such a nightmare. The dress is beautiful, but it is made for someone who is 6 feet tall (I'm 5'2" on a good day) Who is this woman they thought this would fit????

My poor sister had the camera ready and everything, I came out and she saw my face and just put the camera right down. We were able to laugh about that a little later in the day. Okay, had to vent and get that off my chest. It will work all work out...

We get the dress tomorrow!
