Isn't that awesome?  Looks like it's straight out of Ghostbusters.  It was pretty scary there for a while, but everyone is okay Source

Goodbye old friend

245,000 miles- my 1992 Acura Vigor finally puttered out.  This car was made when I was in junior high- I'm 32 and it's just now giving out.  Actually, the engine is in great shape, but the front end is about to give out and not worth fixing.  It was a great little car

Quick Celebration with Matt's Parents for his birthday

Charlie has learned how to clap- and to clap on cue when you tell him to

We just had a quick dinner of burgers and brats.  I made banana pudding/dream whip/nilla trifle sort of thing- easiest dessert ever

Ethan

Never seen a kid eat as much food as he did tonight- and he LOVED the banana pudding

Matt

I had been planning this night for weeks.  We almost always go to a T-Bones game for Matt's birthday (and usually mine too) We haven't been able to take the kids forever.  I told Matt that we were going to the game - all 5 of us.  We usually keep it a surprise, but I went ahead a told him.  There are only so many secrets I can keep.  But I did surprise him with a bunch of his friends (and a few of mine)at the game. So when we got to our seats, there were a bunch of friendly faces- a sort of surprise party.  His friend Rick who is the busiest person on the planet came with a bunch of his family members- I couldn't believe I got him to come.  Tracey came up from Oklahoma City.  Beau, Melanie and their 2 kids came.  Jason, his son Sam and his nephew came.  His brother Chad and Melissa came.  And my friend Cari and her family came.  All together there were 30 of us.  Matt was overwhelmed.  It was so great.  We passed Charlie around to everyone who wanted to hold him.  He was a very good baby, but very squirmy!  The floors there are always dirty and wet, he wanted to get down, but I just couldn't let him. I was thrilled to be able to pass him around a bit.  Matt even had his birthday announced over the loud speaker, but he was somewhere he couldn't hear it. :( They had called for rain all day yesterday and last night.  The rain never came.  There were some nasty looking clouds and lots of lightning, but other than that it was a beautiful night.  Little breezy, about 65 and very humid.  They have a huge fireworks show at the end of the game.  We went out front and sat in the grass and watched it.  It was so awesome watching Charlie watching the fireworks- he loved them.  We took video, but it was just too dark.  I can't wait for the 4th.  We sat on the grass for probably close to an hour and waited for the parking lot to clear- this was probably my favorite part of the night.  And right as we were deciding we should leave *drip* *drop* it starts raining and we got a HUGE storm last night.  So thank you Lord for holding the rain off!!!

I can not tell you how much I love T-Bones games.  I seriously think it is my absolute favorite thing to do in KC.  I wish we could get season tickets.

The only pictures from inside the stadium

We weren't very good at taking pictures inside the stadium- only have these three

Cari Carins Wilhelm- a girl I used to play with as a child in Minnesota.  She moved away when we were 5 and 25 years later she finds me on facebook.  WE LIVE 10 MINUTES AWAY FROM EACHOTHER IN KANSAS CITY.  Nuts huh?  We've become friends and I invited her and her family out to the game.  I recognize her daughter more than I do here she looks so much like her mom at that age.

On the way to the game for Matt's Birthday

Bonked his head

I gave Ethan my old camer and he took about 7,000 pictures ( I LOVE digial cameras!) I know there are a bunch of these, but he got some really cute ones of Charlie

Matt's 36th Birthday and Charlie's first baseball game

They say it's bad to give your baby a bath every night, but what am I supposed to do????

He has this thing where he spits part of it out, then proceeds to rub his hands all over his face, in his hair, over his eyes so it gets in his eyelashes

Baby food turns to concrete pretty quickly, so the only way to solve the problem is to dunk him in the tub

He loves it, and it's pretty hilairious so it's hard to get too mad

Hastas

We've had this empty box in front of our bushes since we moved in.  I wanted to plant something there, but not being a gardener, I needed something that required little to no maintenance.  With Matt's garden going in the back, helping with that is going to take all the green thumb I have, and there isn't much.  Those damn bushes need to come out some day, but this is not the year.

Our lovely hedge, with dying parts here and there.  Somebody told us once they thought it might be mold (yippee!)

Our supervisor

So we trimmed and weeded it up to go to home depot and pick out some stuff to plant.  I was thinking hastas or impatients.  I wanted something that spread

Our neighbor Chuck is very old.  He was once a great gardener, but is finally too old to really take care of all the stuff he has.  He was diagnosed with polio as a boy and has been in a wheelchair ever since.  Even being in a wheelchair this man was mowing his own yard on a rider like 2 years ago- he's like 85.  He's one tough dude.  He loves talking plants and gardening with Matt and told him that he has a bunch of hastas along the front of the house that he wants gone and we can have them if we want them.  I was thrilled- hastas....and free....and helping Chuck out at the same time.  We weeded his bed and removed the hastas. He has some lovely azalias and hydrangeas (wish we could have had those too!) but we weeded his bed real well and left it just how he wanted it.

Matt planting the hastas, I helped carry them over, but pretty much just weeded Chuck's bed while Matt did the real work.  I had no idea what I was doing.  Those green and white hastas remind me of my mother.  They remind me of our old house on 13th ave- that makes me happy

waiting to be planted

Once they spread, I think it will look really nice.  The hasta on the far right had a another purple flowering plant intertwined, so we will have just a little color.
