New crib (SO PRETTY) and other new stuff we'll need to get around to....

After many babies, our crib and changing table we used for Charlie were done.

Matt's parents generously offered to buy us new pieces.

This is the picture off the website, but here is the amazingly beautiful crib they bought us.  I'm in awe of how much I love this crib.  I stop by the room all the time to just admire it.  It's made of metal, so this thing will able to hold great grandbabies.  It's very well made and sturdy.
Charlie running around helping dad yelling 'I'm the screwer!!' while we laugh like juveniles...

Also, singing a song about being the 'screwer'

Sooooo pretty

Other things that didn't quite make it to baby#2
I was a big fan of the miracle blanket but they say these swaddle without actually swaddling...I'm intrigued.Woombie

These weren't around when Charlie was a baby, but I've seen many a baby in them - they are quite genius Rock & Play

I don't know what we would have done without our miracle blanket  - Charlie's is in tatters

I don't know about these.  I never wore them with Charlie, but others swear by them.  With two running around, it would be handy to have the little just strapped to me

I've heard good things about this little soother

And I have plenty of sheets  - but with all the new stuff, who doesn't want pretty new sheets??

I had an adorable rug for Charlie's nursery, one that he pretty much destroyed.  We're going to try to clean it, but if it doesn't work...this one is pretty swooney

'Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?'

We made a small change in Charlie's room.  I love little boy rooms with planes hanging from the ceiling, I'm not sure why I didn't think of this before...
Sorry it's whited out, I can NOT get a good picture of the nursery.  Worst. lighting. ever.
Here's the whole shelf.  We changed out the curtains too.  Matt's mom gave us awesome nap-lengthening black out curtains

And now I finally have room for this print I bought as a fundraiser for a couple trying to adopt from Ethiopia.  I luuurv it.

Charlie had lots of fun playing with the toy he had only gotten to look at up to this point

'Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.' - I love that movie.  Now Charlie can lay in bed and stare at his plane...

Big Boy Bed

We're getting very close to Charlie having to be moved to a big boy bed. I've already caught him trying to crawl out of his crib. Baby overboard + wood floors = disaster

As much as I would like to keep him caged in his crib, I'm excited for the next big step for him. We are planning on building a bed. Charlie's aunt generously donated a twin bed, so we are one step closer.

As much as I would like completely re-do his room to look like the above, I need to be realistic. So, the only thing to really do is bedding.  Finding bedding that goes with his room shouldn't be a huge problem, his colors are light blue, cherry red and white. Here is a reminder of his nursery:

(I have never, ever been able to take a good picture of his nursery- the light sucks in there)

The only thing I am positive about is wanting a quilt/coverlet instead of a comforter.  Ethan has a quilt and it's great.  They are comfortable, warm, and washable.  I find the washable comforters get so pilly they look terrible after a short amount of time.  Ethan has had his quilt forever and it looks great.

I love the top right, but doesn't really work in his room. The plaids are cute and I think with the right wall art and sheets they can look more preppy than country.  Or, I could do preppy plaid sheets and a plain quilt.  Or these ADORABLE Tommy sheets that I've been slightly obsessed with for a while....

Well, whatever I decide, it's going to come down to cost.  Seems like the plainer the cheaper, but the dark plaids would sure be good for a messy, dirty boy over the long haul...I mean what's the point of doing all this when he's probably just going to pee and puke all over them?  I mean really, he's two

I do know that when we get the big boy bed we are getting one of these.  Whomever came up with this idea is a genius.  I'm lucky Charlie is a late sleeper, but this lets them know by color when it's time to get up.  5:30 am?  Nope, unless you are on fire, get your butt back in bed until at least 7 am....or 9.  Mamma & Pappa like their sleep.

Charlie's explorer corner- the ship

So I bought this hideously ugly GOLD plastic ship wall hanging at the thrift store for $1.98

The wheels in my head started churning and I thought it might be cool to play with.  If not, I'm only out $1.98 plus a can of spray paint.

Matt helped me sand it down

We spray painted it white, buffed it with some super fine steel wool and put a second coat on

I think it turned out alright- dare I say almost chic?

It's not really his explorer's corner, but with the moon and alien and ship, it's shaping up that way

I used an already existing nail- move it down a bit I think?

Thoughts?  Yes? No?

My Husband Rules

I realized I never posted about Matt building Bridgette's bedroom downstairs.  Get ready for some preeeego pictures!  I forgot how big I was!  This is what the basement looked like to begin with

I was pretty much just a supervisor.  Pretty much sat in a chair and kept Matt company.  There wasn't much I was able or he would let me do

There is the start of the closet and me perched on my mama chair in the left corner

Outside wall.  Matt wrapped the bottom of the walls in roofing moisture barrier in case we ever got water in the basement.  We don't have a sump, so we need to be careful about it.

HOLY MOLY!!!  It is bizarre seeing these pictures, I have no recollection of being that pregnant.

Doing the electrical

Filling the insulation

Looking from the outside of the bedroom

Matt's friend Eric helping with the electrical and drywall

Here is the closet.  The house was built in 1957, so this is by far the biggest closet in the house.  I took over half of it, Bridgette was a good sport about it as always.

Moving B down to the new bedroom.  Painting her old room to get Charlie in there.  Charlie was born at this point but he was in bassinet in our room

B helping paint her room

She picked out the color, I really liked her choice!
