Bridgette's Homecoming

B had homecoming last weekend.  We were out of town for it, but we got this sweet, sweet picture of her and her dog Fred.  I am in love with this picture

Bridgette's Senior Night

There were four seniors, they decorated the whole field for them and made t-shirts.  It was really cute

Weekend at the Hubbards Helping with the Deck

We went up to Melinda's last weekend.  I was in need of some time with my sister and Eric wanted Matt's help with the deck.  The weather was cool but gorgeous and we had a great time.  The girls just fawn over Charlie.  They are so good with him and he is usually exhausted after a weekend with them.  It's so nice to have two little babysitters to occupy him.

They just treat him like he is their little doll for the weekend.

I don't know why, but I love Charlie's little feet in this picture!

The the guys from the neighborhood coming over to help Eric with the big beam.  How nice to live in a neighborhood like that?  My neighbors would help, but most of them are too old!

Roger (Eric's dad), Eric and Matt formulating a plan

Plus, we got to take a break in the middle of the day and go watch Lauren play her soccer game, which is always a trip.  She is so good!  Plus, it's just funny watching 6 year olds play organized sports.  I would have a better picture, but I spent most of the time chasing Charlie.  More pics from the weekend later this week...

Hi, I'm Charlie and I'm 2

We tried a little experiment this weekend.  We took out every single toy he has, and put away the Thomas the Train set.  I encourage his passion for the trains, but get worried that his creativity isn't getting used the way it should by a variety of different toys and stimulus (stimuli?).  He kept asking for his choo-choos, but was happily occupied with the other toys.

Matt was hunting last weekend, so it was just the little man and me all weekend.  We had a great time.  Saturday, we went to lunch with Missy and Eliza, went shopping, both took a 3 hour nap (which was awesome), walked down to Sheridans and split an ice cream, and snuggled up and watched a movie together.  It was a fantastic day with my Charlie.  Sunday we listened to Andrew Bird ALL day (which Matt would have never allowed) and played, played, played.

The "O" face is his new face, every time he makes a loud noise

I don't know if this video will be as funny to you as it was to me, but I was dying. He played with that box for hours

Another fantastic moment (and he was fine) He must have been standing on something because he was making his "O" face and next thing, he just went down.  He wasn't hurt and came up laughing, which about rolled me off my chair.

I'm egging him on to do the face.  Sorry for all the videos recently- trying to catch all the recent, hilarious 'charlie-isms'

Okay, Okay, two more of Charlie and his dad being, well Charlie and Matt. I promise I'm done

And I wonder why he's fearless? If you are wondering what the heck is playing in the background it's this hilarious, old, Disney movie from the 60's called The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band. Have you heard of it?

My Kid is a Total Beast

Went to the park Sunday, he doesn't want to play on the toddler one, he mastered that one a year ago

Remember, this kid is two

He has to go on the one that's made for like, ten year olds

For what this kid lacks in verbal skills....

He more than makes up in motor skills and mobility

I was right there to make sure he didn't tumble off the side, but it was completely unnecessary- he's all over it.  I'm astounded how beyond his years he is at this stuff.  Just threw himself down the slide- our little stuntman!

Labor Day Weekend

My husband- Huck Finn, doing the dishes

You should have seen this house when we first got there, spotless.  It's amazing the mess we can make of their house when we visit...

trains, trains, trains....it's all about the trains

And here is a bonus of just Sheila singing...she didn't know I was recording her. She sang at our wedding (I made her sing in Latin- ha!)

Sheila and her Dad...

This is what Matt's family does when they are together. They make music. There is always someone playing the piano or the guitar or singing.

My sister and I laugh at the thought of the Divine's being so Von Trapp-y, we aren't exactly the type. We Divine's are much better at sitting on the deck, drinking fabulous wine and eating. Both have there merits :)

My favorite thing in the world is to hear Matt's dad sing. He is a high tenor and has a voice that will just melt you. And when he sings with both his daughters, it will literally bring the house down. Michelle was unable to be with us as she was having her tonsils out (Ouch!). This is my favorite song they sing together and I wanted to get it recorded so it exists forever. I hope you enjoy it, I know the quality could be better, but it's from my little point and shoot. Check out the look at :54- precious. If you are not so into the singing, there will be other pictures to come....

Something serious is going on with embedding you tube videos, so as much as I would like to make the next few posts one cohesive piece, it won't let me. So instead of throwing my computer out the window, here are 11 post that all belong together. Grrrrr.......

Discovering Bubble Wrap

PS- my favorite little overalls are now capris.....

I'll save you a 20 minute video, lets just say this happened over and over and over.  **POP** he-he-he,**POP** he-he-he,**POP** he-he-he

Chickens!

Auntie Sheila and Uncle James have chickens now!  I have to say, he didn't flip out like I thought he would, but he thought they were pretty cool.  I think mom flipped out more than the toddler.  I want chickens!

Prepare for a flood of posts of our annual trip to Mayberry for Labor Day.....the camera has returned!

My 9/11

Well, speaking of my blog having no content, here is a little content.  Some may be offended by this post, some may be understanding, some may not care, but here we go.

I hate September 11th. I don't want to remember. I don't want see the pictures. I DO NOT want to hear audio.  I don't want to have a moment of silence.  I just want to forget that terrible, scary day.

I was single and alone in Kansas City and I just remember calling my dad.  I didn't know what to do.  Do I drive home? Can I leave my apartment? Can I drive on the roads?  I just wanted to be close to my greatest protector- my dad. And I couldn't.  I had to go to work, and I lived 7 hours away from him, and it didn't make sense, nothing made sense.

So, my September 11th, I choose to crawl into a news hole today.  No Drudge, no Huffington Post, if NPR talks about it, or for God's sake plays the audio of that day, I will change the channel.  Why do we need to be put back to that day?  I don't wanna, I'm not gonna, I opt out.

It's not out of lack or respect for those we've lost, but do I want to sit and remember every detail of the day I lost my mother? Grandmother? Kay? Mike? Kathy? Bob? Margaret?  Yeah, thanks...I'm good.  I'm done tormenting myself every year on this day listening to it all over and over again.

More Bedding

bedspreads 3

Well, still waiting on my camera....such is life. I'm surprised how much by blog just stopped without a camera!  Reminds me how picture heavy and content light my blog is.  But that's what I like in other's blogs, and that's how I blog, so tough nuggies.

Well, I've been snooping around for more bedding, most of these are out of my budget, but the top left Curious George sheets?  If you remember, Charlie has a small obsession with his Curious George and as opposed as I am to character decor, they seem to be well done, and I love the plaid bedspread paired with it- love it.

The others are more just for fun, I love the plane one, but I love old vintage looking planes.   The owl one is cute, but he would grow out of it pretty quick. Those are definitely more for mom than for Charlie.

And if you know my taste at all, it's no surprise that I'm pretty much obsessed with the clocks.  They are from Garnett Hill kids, but I don't care.  So, how much bribing am I going to have to do for my husband to agree to them?  Probably never going to happen.
