Hiking near Blue Springs Dam.  We like this trail and go often, but it was early in the day and it was just FULL of spiderwebs and we were covered head to toe in baby ticks.  Ugh

This is a park down in Lee's Summit that I've wanted to go to forever.  Turns out, all this water is just runoff from the streets and roads, this is hidden right in the middle of a very busy, built up area.  And there were people swimming in it! Ugh, I told the kids, wade through it, but god, don't let your hands touch it and DON'T FALL

First Day of 5th Grade

First day of school looks a bit different this year, for a couple of reasons.  First, our big 5th grader was a walker this year.  It was fairly nerve wracking, but it's only about 4 blocks and we knew he could handle it. Which led to the second, we had to get this kid a phone.  And it begins.... and third, we count ourselves very lucky that our district started on time, safely, and offered in person.  As I'm typing this, it has been 2 months, and we are still in person with no covid issues. He has to wear a mask all day and we've gone through every kind of mask that is made trying to find one he can tolerate all day.  It will become a lot more tolerable as the weather cools.  But kids are amazingly adaptive and he's taken to the new world like a fish to water, very few complaints.

I took the morning off to walk with him, about half way there he made me turn back.  'I'm FINE MOM'
